summery whites.

nothing says summer like a casual white dress. they easily go with sandals -- heel/wedge or flat. but more importantly, they go with STRAW HATS. which.. if you haven't noticed... are my thing lately! yes, i've raved about @gigipip and this is their adjustable boater hat #itsperfect. specifically, this dress has the prettiest pleated detail at the top and a very elegant cinched waist that is tied in the back or side, oh and it has pockets! but it does have to be ironed -- FYI. #aintnobodygottimeforthat!

fact: i'm actually on the shy side. i really don't like being in front of the camera. #shocker. i would much rather be behind the camera but unfortunately, this fashion blog wouldn't exist with my name if i didn't actually "model" the clothes (using the term model veryyyy loosely there). that said, this was a really fun shoot. my first time shooting with Steven, who suggested a ton of different "poses" completely out of my comfort zone. it reminded me of what i've done to make myself feel uncomfortable every step of the way to have this site. basically, i laughed the whole way through, making a fool of myself, per usual = #goodtimes.

side ramblings: the @nordstrom anniversary sale kicks off this week to cardholders and it is one of the BIGGEST sales of the year for men and women! i will be attending some preview events by Nordstrom this week to get the inside scoop. so stay tuned!

the boyfriend jeans & cami

the article of clothing that has upset men all around the world... the boyfriend jean. 

on the flipside, i am pretty sure women feel the same way about men wearing skinny jeans. so it's all fair game. (i can already feel that this is going to be a fun one to write). finding the perfect boyfriend jean is very similar to online dating/finding a BF... it could be pretty exhausting. there are so many options -- brands, washes, amount of distressing, rises, price points etc... you just gotta try different pairs! once you find the perfect pair, it won't let you down. just like a good man. ha! JK. actually, a good man is hard to come by. you'll probably have better luck finding a pair of boyfriend jeans or a needle in a haystack. 

jokes aside, the key is a relaxed yet fitted look that isn't too baggy (maybe try petite sizing), a lighter wash, a good amount of distressing, and a mid-rise is always my go-to option. dress this bad boy up with the most feminine pieces -- i chose the cami top that shows the right amount of skin, some stiletto heels (while not super practical, but it is needed for these jeans), some statement earrings, and dainty layered necklaces. check out a throwback to my first pair of BF jeans styled with a trench coat. while i liked that pair, i wanted something a little more distressed (ok fine, they don't fit anymore, haha #keepingitreal). 

side ramblings: i cannot believe half of 2017 is already GONE! yikes. life has been flying by lately in the best way possible. which means New York Fashion Week #NYFW is just around the corner! i have been looking forward to making this happen since i began this blog! it is going to be EPIC. five full days of the city, my main focus will probably be food (need to reference my NYC eats from 2015), a few shows & parties, networking, but mainly meeting my blogger friends i've connected with via social. also, shout out to @mazeroomaustin, i've done several escape rooms and this one is the best #nerdalert! i highly recommend it. we did not escape their first room two years ago, but this time with their second room -- TWO minutes to spare! hope y'all have a good 4th. xx

finished reading: the subtle art of not giving a f*ck by mark manson
i recommend it as a light, hilarious read. nothing that will completely change your life. but it will certainly give you perspective on the people & things you choose to care about. choose them wisely. one of my favorite lines from the book is, "...if you go around giving a f*ck about everything and everyone without conscious thought or choice -- well, you're going to get f*cked." #WORD.

how to style sweaters

silk scarf & embellished bibs!

documenting the versatility of the short sleeve sweater with @bananarepublic today! when these sweater tees arrived from Banana Republic i thought it would be a good idea to show some simple ways to dress them up. while the statement necklace is a pretty standard go-to... i decided on a silk scarf and this really fun embellished bib. in addition, these types of sweaters go with all bottoms -- skirts, pants, shorts. here, i've styled them for some work wear, and casually with some distressed skinny jeans. 

the key to the silk scarf is go with a square one otherwise you have too much material hanging around your neck. a double knot always works making one side slightly longer than the other. asymmetry is always good. pro tip: you can also tie the scarf around your wrist or your handbag. i am a huge fan of silk scarves -- such a classy factor that will never go out of style. the embellished bibs are a little hard to find but they also come in collars as well. another great and unexpected way to add a little something to a plain top!

the lemon print jumpsuit & straw hat

lemon x lemon.

what is it with lemon print?! i cannot be the only one with a minor obsession with it! on a random walk into Anthropologie (JUST TO BROWSE) my eyes immediately spotted this lemon print jumpsuit from across the room. i am not kidding. two second thought process: lemon print + jumpsuit = BUY. okay!

there are certain occasions when i will purchase something at a shocking price tag (aka: regular price), this is one of them. to justify, the lemon print is done very tastefully on this jumpsuit. not to mention it goes very well with the light blue. the material is light and breezy and what tops it off is the sash. i also walked into J.Crew and saw these lemon earrings on sale... so... this outfit was MEANT TO BE! i just saw this to be something i would not come by again and how much wear i would get out of it. i feel like i should be on a beach somewhere with it #needavacay.

lastly, this straw hat via @gigipip is going to be such a summer staple! i had the hardest time picking one hat because there are so many to choose from -- straw, baseball, felt etc... when the Jill straw floppy hat arrived i was thoroughly impressed. it arrives wrapped in plastic (in case it rains!) and the box has a mechanism that protects the hat from being crushed #saynotocrushedhats! the inside of the box it says, "here's to the woman who wears many hats, and embraces them all. this one's for you." all #details thought out and i am someone who appreciates that! the quality of this hat is unlike any other that i own. you can feel the craftsmanship of it. soo.. i went to purchase the Faye boater hat (i was in the market for one!) with my own promo code. austin fashion week part 2

one post jam packed with two outfits!

these two outfits below were worn on night one and two of Austin Fashion Week #AFW. you can see night three right here along with a recap. 

night 1 outfit ramblings: what drew me to this dress was the criss cross halter style and the very bright bottom (not to mention frayed!). the dress was sent to me by @hutch_design and it's a brand sold at Anthropologie.com (and you know i love me LOTS of Anthropologie!!). i received dozens of compliments on this although many thought it was a skirt vs. a dress. my tassel earring collection has grown enormously within the last year but lately, i can't help but find myself ohhing and ahhing at J.Crew earrings. these they are SO LIGHTWEIGHT. the main problem with beaded tassel earrings is that they are usually too heavy. anddddd.... i haven't seen many people wear them so they were a total WIN purchase. currently eyeing these beauties.

night 2 outfit ramblings: i recently became a ZARA addict -- great price points. one of my friends always picks the best things from there! anyways, this jumpsuit went into my cart because of the striped strapless (first strapless jumpsuit) design and the little cut out detail. like i have said before, a jumpsuit always wins and i felt this one was so appropriate for AFW. it's not too dressy or too casual. i paired it with this layered choker which i have been eyeing for so LONG! you will also see the @mollyphillipsjewelry arah bracelet i'm wearing that was purchased at AFW! she has such beautiful designs, and i'll always remember this bracelet because my blogger babes, @byhilaryrose and @heykailymae and i purchased them together. #twinngiswinning! i always love pieces with a story behind them. #sentimental

austin fashion week

#overdue.

Austin Fashion Week #AFW is an experience i'll never forget. i had an AMAZING time. i am so grateful for the opportunity and feel humbled to even be invited. special thank you to @fashionx.co & @pompublicrelations for these memories! there were a ton of pre and post parties/events leading up and ending fashion week but you may know i was ill and at the tail end of it, so i basically missed EVERYTHING except the runway shows (insert sad face). i've learned that sometimes, even when you feel like crap, you gotta pull yourself together and GO. it was a jam packed three days of non-stop fashion show action fun. (not to mention the post runway activities. ahem. ahem). the evenings started off with a VIP lounge (who am i?!), part one, intermission, and part two. see some of the collections after the jump. my personal favorite was @shopmilesdavis!

the little black dress #LBD below was worn on night three of AFW. i love discovering new brands and this one happens to be sold at bloomingdales.com, which... if you live in TX it is TAX-FREE!!!!! #hellsyes. anyways, this brand, AQUA, has such great pieces not to mention the price point won't break the bank. the strappy top with the tiny cut out waist with the peplum/ruffle hem was SOOOO up my alley. lastly, i have always wanted a pair of @lisilerch earrings. i always see them on others and they always look STUNNING! what made it harder was that the tassel earrings come in all the colors you can think of! i decided on the disco color looked because it looks so unique. it paired so well and added the perfect amount of sparkle for the last night of AFW. and... they racked up dozens of compliments that night. a confirmation that i made the right color choice!

side happenings: spent the last few days in Dallas, soaking up the city and doing what i do best = eating & shopping. oh and while i was up there the BEST THING HAPPENED! @bananarepublic posted me on their instagram! like... WHAT?! thank you to everyone who texted and congratulated me on this. i am still pinching myself!! i had to hold back tears of joy because i was so overcome with happiness. it has been such a journey and every step of the way has been about pushing my boundaries and comfort zone. no matter where this leads me to, i hope that all these moments will always have the same magnitude of meaning.  #blessed.

timeless dresses by camilyn beth

feelin' extra fancy in these exquisite dresses! translates to: #pictureheavypost

a few years ago i stumbled upon @CamilynBeth through fashion blogger, @extrapetite! i fell in love with their classic designs and style. so... you can imagine how grateful i feel to be given the opportunity to work with them today! Camilyn Beth dresses are made of high quality material, the styles are timeless and will therefore be in my closet for years to come. and... they are made in the USA!

the first dress is my fave -- the Felicity. i am automatically drawn to all clothing items with a peplum hem #obsessed?, the color on this one is so vibrant and fun, and the sash is removable #littledetails! i think this dress makes a good office look (surely to turn heads) i even paired it with a navy blazer. the fuchsia goes so well with the navy and i can't seem to decide if i love it more with or without the sash!

the second dress is a strapless dress -- the Rosalina. the silk overlay with the ruffle hem makes this dress extra fancy and the back features a little dainty bow tie. perfect for brides-to-be or a night out. it goes perfectly with my first blush bag from Rebecca Minkoff -- i LOVE the LOVE crossbody #nopunintended. this dress would also look good with a sleeveless duster or draped with a trenchcoat. i recently wore this to a polo match derby event with a floppy hat and received so many compliments! #fitslikeaglove (in a good way).

side happenings: this weekend was the first relaxing weekend i literally bummed around and it FELT SO GOOD! i am off to Dallas this week for a little getaway and CANNOT wait! also, a long overdue Austin Fashion Week post will be live this week!
